In broadcasting, the idea was always to ask "why" and not something that could be a yes/no. Why did you choose your current role, and not "do you like your job?" etc

like in those interrogation scenes, you always wanna know what a person's motives and purpose is because that;s the useful info

Level 1: β€œwhat is the day to day like in this role?”
JD
Jeremy Diaz 2:16 PM
Yes! I have delivered a presentation about how holistic storytelling has helped me be more personable in business because I'm just envisioning it as a big story where I'm trying to coax out details and pieces that aren't too on the nose. You're always looking for what makes a person up and how they've gotten to where they are.

We did this exercise in my team the other day and held β€œempathy” interviews with coworkers we have work tensions with. The most powerful question was our opener β€œwhat can I do to make your job 10% easier?”, as Chris said, it’s a great starting point and really opened up the dialogue and disarmed folks.

This is one of my favorite frameworks for feedback, because it centers around the situation not the person - https://www.ccl.org/articles/leading-effectively-articles/closing-the-gap-between-intent-vs-impact-sbii/
