You can tell if someone is a designer if they use Figma Slides

Product design is the physical product that you're designing vs user experience being more flexible, digital, etc.
5:15 PM
Alas, Zoom does not tell people when you're typing.
LM
Lydia Mekonnen 5:16 PM
With product design ur designing a product, but with user experience, you’re focusing more on how it is being used
MW
Maya Whitted 5:16 PM
Product design is the actual product itself and user experience design is the way consumers experience the product/usability
NW
Naomi Wiesen 5:16 PM
Product design feels more “build cool thing” marketing feel
VP
Vy Pham 5:16 PM
product design is more so centered around the product itself, and user experience is how the user react to the product they receive
JK
Johan Kou 5:16 PM
Product is features, ux is focused on improving these features for the user
AO
Adam Ong 5:16 PM
product design is focused on what the product does and user experience is how its being used

user experience design-helps the user interact with the product, for a better user experience.
KK
Kavya Kushalappa 5:16 PM
PD - what a product “looks” like. What features it has.
UX - how the users experience navigating this product is. Ease/Complicated.

Tanvi Gandhi 5:17 PM
Maybe product design could be just designing a product which could be a minimal viable product whereas adding features to it and beautifying it goes under user experience design?

My web design major certainly hits me with every type of vaguely design-related class that exists

Everything you see in Zoom likely exists in their design system. It’s easily reusable and is in different parts of their products

Naomi Wiesen 5:25 PM
I’m guessing this is similar to how in figma prototyping they have massive libraries of design components so you can create consistent mockups in the character of apple products or generic tech

I somehow was also the Product Manager on that for about a week. It was weird.
😂
CG
Christopher Grande 5:26 PM
That’s a big part of that. Usually that will come from the brand management team or marketing team but it gets funneled into the product design system

VP

research, critically think and group work, draft, experiment how the product works, and then product launch…

Remember, Cesar shared that the business problem he worked on was reducing drop-off from the product. That would be uncovered and decided in the business strategy area

Honestly, it’s important and that’s a good exercise for a company to do

(insider knowledge) Google is trying to get all of their employees to have AI literacy by the end of the year, but because it keeps changing and evolving, it’s difficult for them to build a proper training program for it

CG
Christopher Grande 5:55 PM
The most important thing right now is not just basic literacy but being given the space to continue to use AI within the company and have exploration encouraged
